Funding: International Scholarships & Financial Aid

Students participating in a study-abroad program should speak with the Financial Aid Office to determine whether their current financial aid can be used toward a study-abroad program. In addition, students may be eligible to apply for the following:

Awards are available to U.S. citizen students who are receiving Pell Grant funding at a two- or four-year college or university. Programs must be at least 28 days long.

Application Deadlines: 
January Session & Spring 2018 Programs: October 3, 2017 
Summer 2018 and Fall/Academic Year 2018-19 Programs: March 2018

Awards are available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents studying at the undergraduate level to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. The scholarship is needs based. Minimum 2.8/4.0 GPA required. More information regarding eligibility can be found here.

Application Deadline for Summer 2017:
Wednesday, March 1st, 2017

Open to John Jay College students who have applied to study abroad. Awards are up to a maximum of $1,000. Students must have 30 credits completed by the date the program begins, and a minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA. Students are to complete a John Jay General Scholarship Application, submit program confirmation and details, estimated budget, 300-word essay describing the program, need for support, and how it will add to your studies.  For more information, please contact:  Michael Scaduto, Assoc. Application Deadline: November 3, 2017

The Student Travel Program provides funding to John Jay College students for travel for a John Jay College and/or City University of New York Study-Abroad Program. The maximum contribution for an individual application is $1,500. Undergraduate students with at least a 2.5 GPA who have completed at least 30 credits are eligible. Graduate students with at least a 3.0 GPA who have completed at least 12 credits are eligible. Transfer students in their first semester must submit an official transcript from their previous institution. Deadlines vary based on time of travel.

As part of CUNY’s commitment to “[widen] the pipeline of language training, study abroad, and cross-cultural learning and collaboration for all students” (The Connected University, CUNY Master Plan 2016-2020). If awarded, the Chancellor’s Global Scholarship would provide partial funding to CUNY students planning a study-abroad experience. More information can be found here.

Awards are available for students from traditionally under-represented minority groups for studying abroad.

Awards are available to U.S. citizen students, both undergraduate and graduate, to study in most geographic regions except Western Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
